Mumbai, May 17, 2025 – A serious attempt to illegally seize the premises of two long-standing educational institutions in Dharavi has raised concerns over growing land-related conspiracies involving false legal documents and alleged collusion with law enforcement.

The schools in question — Kamban Tamil School and Royal City English High School — have been operating since 2006 under the management of a charitable trust. On May 14, 2025, the trust received a legal notice from Advocate Kuldeep Yadav, acting on behalf of Mr. Anand Vaman Karale and Mrs. Archana Karale, demanding that the school vacate the premises within seven days.

Trustee Fr. M.A. Soosai stated that the notice is based on fabricated claims supported by forged change reports for three consecutive 5-year periods (2005–2020). These documents, allegedly submitted to the Mumbai Charity Commissioner in 2018, were used to obtain a questionable order that is currently under review through a revision appeal under Section 70A of the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 1950.

“We fear this is part of a larger conspiracy involving collusion with officers from the Dharavi Police Station. Our property and people are at risk,” Fr. Soosai said.

The Trust has called for urgent intervention from the Director General of Police, the Commissioner of Police – Mumbai, and several senior law enforcement officials. Letters have also been sent to the Chief Minister and Education Minister of Maharashtra requesting their support in protecting the trust-run educational institutions from unlawful encroachment.

Despite operating for nearly two decades and serving hundreds of underprivileged children in the region, the school now faces a severe threat from vested interests. The trustees demand strict legal action against those attempting to exploit the legal system for personal gain.
